Mr Yuen Soon
Mr Yuen Soon Consultant General, Oesophago-Gastric and Laparoscopic Surgeon at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, qualified from Charing Cross Westminster Medical School, University of London in 1991.
He first worked in the Royal Surrey in 1991 as a junior doctor with Professor Michael Bailey. He has trained for the past 15 years as a surgeon spending the last 10 in the West Midlands before returning to the Royal Surrey as a Laparoscopic Fellow. He completed his training under the tutelage of Professor Michael Bailey at the MATTU. He was appointed as a Locum Consultant on the retirement of Professor Bailey in 2007 with a formal permanent appointment in November 2007.
Mr Y Soon specialises in diseases of the oesophagus and stomach, including cancer and complex benign conditions. He is also an advanced laparoscopic practitioner using the skills to perform complex operations.
He is currently a laparoscopic tutor at the MATTU and has recently been appointed a Visiting Professor of Laparoscopic Surgery at the National University of Malaysia.
